Did you know that Southside Dojo is a federal non profit?  Donating to support Southside Dojo is easier than you think.

If your employer participates with The United Way you should be able to ask your human resources dept. or United Way coordinator for a "Designation" form.  At the bottom of this form is an area to indicate a specific 501(c)3 non-profit.  The only info you need is the name of the non-profit (for example, Southside Dojo) and their address and/or phone number.

17 Judo athletes from Southside Dojo competed at the 2009 Grand Slam Judo tournament held in Grand Rapids Michigan on Sept 12, 2009.  The inaugural tournament was hosted by Michigan Extreme Judo, tournament director Jim Murray.  We would like to extend our thanks to Jim and the rest of the program for a well run tournament and a fun day.  Congratulations to all Southside Dojo Judo Athletes.

Are you interested in joining the Southside Dojo Guerilla MMA Fight Team as a Mixed Martial Arts fighter?  On Sept 26th, 2009 at 3:00pm we will be holding tryouts.  Selected members will receive a discount on MMA gear, as well as a schedule and training to put them into an MMA event in early 2010. 

Do you think you have what it takes?  Send us a message indicate your Name, Age, Weight, Contact Info, and info on relevant training or background.

We will evaluate you on several different aspects of MMA.  Tryouts will last about 1.5 hours.  Please come prepared with a mouthguard and cup (for guys).  We encourage MEN and WOMEN to participate!

Southside Dojo will have a booth at the 2009 Western Michigan University Bronco Bash.  A few details for those interested in helping as well as those who want to check us out:

Booth number 388, located in the parking structure....
Time: 3:00pm - 8:00pm

Burpee contest: Sign up and get in as many burpees as you can in 1 minute.  The person with the most at the end of Bronco Bash will win a 2 month free membership to Southside Dojo (a $65 value).

Drawing for a free month membership: Sign up, we'll put your name in and draw a person's name for a free month at Southside Dojo (no burpees required)

Demonstrations:  Judo, Muay Thai, MMA, Aikido, Jujitsu, Kobudo.

Checkin time for Southside is 1:00pm.  We'll need a few people to help unload mats and get them placed in the booth area.  Southsiders will be needed throughout the time to represent their art, answer questions, judge burpees, and do demos.
